Planning a Large Wedding in Miami? What to Look for in an Outdoor Venue
November 02, 2026
We get a version of the same call almost every week. Someone just got engaged, the family is big, the guest list keeps growing, and the places they've toured so far were built for a small dinner party. Then the real question comes out. Where do you host a few hundred relatives outside without the day turning into a logistics problem?
We're
The Ranch Miami, an
outdoor wedding venue in Miami sitting on
two acres at
19750 SW 207th Ave in the Redlands, about 30 minutes from Downtown Miami. We host up to
800 guests here, and the same property works for a group closer to 50. Below is what we'd tell you to look for on any tour, whether you book with us or not.
What a Large Outdoor Wedding Actually Asks of a Venue
Big weddings rarely go sideways over decor. They go sideways over
flow, weather, sound, and vendor rules, and all four get decided the day you sign a venue contract. Here's how we'd think through each one.
Room to Spread Out
A capacity number tells you how many people fit. It doesn't tell you where they go. Your guests move all night, from ceremony to cocktails to dinner to dancing, and at every point someone wants to sit down or step away from the speakers.
So ask what exists outside the main space. At The Ranch Miami, we keep lounge zones across the property, including a
fire pit lounge with wicker sofas for the group that wants to talk, plus swings sized for adults and kids. We also have farm animals here, a donkey, a goat, and free range chickens, which sounds like a small thing until a restless kid finds them.
A Plan for the Weather
This is the one that keeps South Florida couples up at night, and it should. An outdoor wedding needs a real answer to rain and heat, not a tent quote you chase the week of. Our
air conditioned indoor spaces and outdoor areas give couples flexibility when planning their celebration.
Sound That Carries
Two acres of open ground swallows sound. Vows that carry easily in a small room can disappear outdoors, and the toast your grandfather wrote lands with the front tables only. We have a full
outdoor sound system on the property, along with Bose speakers and a TV you can use for a slideshow or a presentation. Ask what already exists on site and what your DJ has to bring, because that gap becomes a line item fast.
Somewhere to Get Ready
Getting ready for a big wedding takes longer than anyone plans for. A full wedding party through hair and makeup is most of a morning, and without a comfortable space on site, part of that disappears into driving. Our
Getting Ready House has
six air conditioned bedrooms and is available for wedding parties and VIPs. Everyone stays on the property, and your photographer catches those early moments without a second location.
Conclusion
Reading about two acres is not the same as standing on them and picturing your whole family at dinner. We're a family owned venue, and we'd rather show you the property and talk honestly about how your day would flow than sell you on it from a page.
